Is it just me ...

in denial about winter approaching? This morning was cold, really cold (about 9 degrees!). I know it will get colder but right now it feels cold. I usually have this rule with my long length winter overcoat. I don't wear it unless the high of the day is about 11 degrees. I'm a sook and I've already been wearing it. With highs of 15 degrees. It isn't 'technically' winter until tomorrow. So am I going to feel really cold when it is 5 degrees with a top of say 10?

Better find the gloves and beanie I think!

Is it just me ....

or do you get a little thrill when someone repins something on Pinterest? It isn't even something of mine, just something I have found! I seriously get so excited, perhaps thinking that I must have good taste, that I somehow have picked the next big trend.

Do you get thrills like this?

Words of Wisdom

I had to make my own living and my own opportunity! But I made it! Don’t sit down and wait for the opportunities to come. Get up and make them!

Words of Wisdom

The important thing is not being afraid to take a chance. Remember, the greatest failure is to not try. Once you find something you love to do, be the best at doing it.

My contribution to the 1 million kilo challenge

Remember how I join up for the 1 million kilo challenge? Well I realised today that I haven't updated you!

Since the beginning of the year, I have lost 5kg and dropped a dress size. I've now started another 8 week challenge with Weigh it up (who were the back end behind the 1MK). {ok you can laugh at my use of the words back end and behind!}

I have enjoyed the food immensely. I love the variety of recipes and I have tried so many new things in the last few months. I don't eat red meat so have just substituted chicken or pork when it was used. A few weird things though - they have included vegetables that are WAY out of season. Really bothers Mr Pip as we eat only in season, majority organic food and lots we grow our own. Also it is rather difficult to organise menus around my Master 5 and Miss 3. They have only had a few of the meals with us over the whole time. Yes it is painful but to be honest, I have enjoyed eating like an adult so that plus the positive weight loss results far outweigh any issues of cooking two meals each night.

So watch this space. I hope to reach my goal soon. Not sure if I'm prepared to show you before and after photos though!

For those that are interested, the team behind 1MK have started the 1 million acts of kindness.

Words of Wisdom

The winners in life think constantly in terms of I can, I will, and I am. Losers, on the other hand, concentrate their waking thoughts on what they should have or would have done, or what they can’t do.

May challenge

I was somewhat overwhelmed on my Facebook page this week.

I put out a challenge to my 'likers' to complete one single unfinished project in May. It was very interesting to see the responses. My favourites:

I'm going to finish the pram liner and pram sleeping bag I'm making for Miss Apple.

Karen from Appleseed

I am going to clean out the cupboards in the office! Better warm up the shredder :)

Anita from Winnie&Clem

To walk every day. I'm climbing Mt Sinai in June...time to get fit! Rachel

Complete 2x3000 assignments! Kelly

My favourite though is:

Go on a cruise is the main one, but I'm also going to go horseriding, to a tattoo expo and hopefully fishing on a boat. Melissa

Enjoy that Melissa!

Now my own goal for May will be fun (I think!). I taught myself to crochet last year (below) and to be honest, I don't think I'm much further along than this photo (taken July 2011). Well I am, but I'm still at the "bunch of granny squares" stage and not at the "complete blanket" stage.

So my personal goal for May is to finish two granny square blankets for the owlets. They may not be big but I will finish them!

Off home tonight to crochet while I watch my programs!

Will you join me on the May challenge? Do you have just one single unfinished project that you would like to complete. Just one. Not all of them (!). Would love to hear what you will do.

Yarn bombed ... again!

I must work and live around creative folk!

Remember my joy to see the fabulous crochet creations in City Square on my way to work? Well on this very cold, wet and miserable morning waiting for the gates to open to let me walk across to catch my train, I was greeted with very bright and colourful knitted creations. You can read a newspaper article here.

Sorry for the poor quality photos - a) from my iPhone b) on a very cold, wet and dark morning and c) I was trying to take them in between a huge bunch of people with umbrellas and try not to look like the freaky lady taking photos of wook ;)

Thank you for making my day Melbourne Street Knitters! I hope it lasts a long time.
