This weekend we will be at the Huckleberry Market Extravaganza.

Over 100 Mumpreneurs (including Lil Pip!) will take over the Melbourne Showgrounds combining their talents and entrepreneurial powers to create a market shopping experience and family fun day out; a first of its kind in the state.

“There are literally thousands of women across Melbourne who design, make and bake the most amazing goods. They are up against big retailers, and often only dream of selling to the masses. I wanted to create a Markets Extravaganza to give these women a chance to shine, and for their hard work to be recognised many are marketing on Facebook and then attending local markets every other month”, says founder Amy Cimino.

The Huckleberry Market philosophy is carried right through the Extravaganza with significant entertainment across the two days for children, and popular ABC personality Jimmy Giggle booked to appear on Sunday.  A parents chill out zone is being custom built to provide an area for child feeding, changing and “chilling out”, before heading back for another round of shopping!

“The extravaganza is a day out! We want families to spend the whole day with us, everything they need is on hand to make sure Mum can shop and the rest of the family can have a great time too. We are getting a lot of excited Mums asking if they get to meet Jimmy Giggle too!” 

The Huckleberry Market Extravaganza is being supported by many sponsors including Starshots Knox City, Ascot Vale, Brighton and Foutaingate and Awesome Playgrounds. 

Sponsors and product partners have contributed to prizes and goodies in excess of $15,000. A prize draw is taking place for pre event ticket sales and prizes will be given away at the event over the two days.

{While this quote isn't probably relevant or inspiring to most of my readers, I used to work in the advertising industry (and still on the fringe) so I kinda love it!!}

Are you concerned about getting older?

I was sewing over the weekend. I tend to do this in my bedroom out of the way of the family (occasionally I take over the dining room but Mr Lil Pip sort of has issues with that!). We have a tv in the bedroom so I like to put it on for background noise. I think I had it on Foxtel’s Lifestyle channel.

During a break in my sewing I looked up – young, gorgeous, model type talking about ‘us’ all being concerned about ageing and pimping some miracle cream. It got me thinking. Are ‘we’ all concerned about ageing? Do you have a daily face regime that is going to ‘cure’ your natural laugh lines? Do you buy certain products to reduce lines or plump your skin?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to say you should or shouldn’t be using these creams. I guess I’m just not really that worried about getting old.

I actually had a conversation with my beautiful mum last year and told her that she looks incredible for her age. I wasn’t being sarcastic. I honestly think mum looks amazing. She has recently let her hair go grey (after dying it for as long as I can remember). I think she looks exactly as she should. My beautiful mum and amazing grammy to my owlets. If I look as good as she does when I get to her age, then I will be happy (although the reality is that I won’t considering we look absolutely nothing alike. Like nadda. Nothing. Zip lol). Yes she has wrinkles (sorry mum!) but why shouldn’t she? They are a result of years of laughing, crying, frowning and living. It would look weird if she didn’t.

So I’m curious. Are you concerned about getting older? Do you use products in an attempt to prevent the ageing process? Or are you wearing your age with pride!

No anti-ageing creams here. Just the regular daily face regime for me. Bring on the wrinkles!
