Life? Everything else just seems to be a priority before writing long blog posts that I'm not convinced people will read.<br /><br />BUT<br />
<br />
Then a worldwide pandemic happened and a week ago we were encouraged and then mandated to wear masks and suddenly my sewing skills (or skilz lol) were in hot demand. Overnight my entire business model changed from making children's clothes to sewing masks.<br />
<br />

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Prepare for photo overload!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">A few months ago, I sorta, kinda, maybe started another business with two crazy chicks (you can read all about it over at <a href="https://modernmakersretreat.wordpress.com/">Modern Makers Retreat</a>). </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">This month we launched the Cushion Palooza competition (<a href="https://modernmakersretreat.wordpress.com/2016/08/28/modern-makers-cushion-palooza/">terms and conditions here)</a>. We decided to have a blog tour, yep I'm claiming myself as a blogger on this poor neglected blog! So I called in a few favours with some friends and tada - a blog tour was created.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Strategically, I scheduled myself last. Because the deadline was looming. And yep, needed the weekend to finish it. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">So here is my creation. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-wQgxRS3AVSg/V8zlgK513iI/AAAAAAAAFI4/HXKJ_rusHdY_zR3fopfBS7ddy1yMflqeQCLcB/s1600/IMG_4016.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-wQgxRS3AVSg/V8zlgK513iI/AAAAAAAAFI4/HXKJ_rusHdY_zR3fopfBS7ddy1yMflqeQCLcB/s640/IMG_4016.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">My mum and dad visited last weekend and I showed mum the cushions I had started to make her for Mother's Day (yeah I'm totes late!). They were super cool, retro browns, corals and oranges tones. And then they bought a new couch. Which was black - doh! So back to the drawing board (and the other ones are still sitting there half done). </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I wanted to work with these beautiful screenprinted fabrics from <a href="http://www.spinspin.com/">Spin Spin</a>. I picked up a sample pack ages ago but just couldn't bring myself to cut into them. Mum loved the bright colours and wanted to include them all. Add in a little Kona solids in Goldfish (orange colour) and Cyan and this pillow really pops!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-A95e2XMJbxY/V8zlhgim8sI/AAAAAAAAFJI/RQbxBy-iEh0QQBuy5opPsqX-erPIIpc5wCLcB/s1600/IMG_4017.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-A95e2XMJbxY/V8zlhgim8sI/AAAAAAAAFJI/RQbxBy-iEh0QQBuy5opPsqX-erPIIpc5wCLcB/s640/IMG_4017.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I embraced my recent foray into improv style - just slice and dice it all together. The pieces were all different sizes so it really suited what I had. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Add in some cross hatch quilting - seriously the texture on this is amazing - and it was done. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I kept it simple and just did an envelope back with some fabric that has been sitting there for ages (so totally justifying the stash growing, right?)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">As an aside, my grandfather gave me this little wicker chair when I was three and it has now made it's way back to me. It makes my heart sing when I see my little ones sitting in it. </span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Eepfm_vBjqE/V8zljIvudEI/AAAAAAAAFJU/AWQEmZ67VBwZECuHvvfO9lZiG1SjtS8_gCLcB/s1600/IMG_4020.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Eepfm_vBjqE/V8zljIvudEI/AAAAAAAAFJU/AWQEmZ67VBwZECuHvvfO9lZiG1SjtS8_gCLcB/s640/IMG_4020.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">And my dad's comment "oh its bright!" Sorry dad, mum designed it!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Head on over to <a href="https://modernmakersretreat.wordpress.com/2016/09/01/cushion-palooza-blog-tour/">Modern Makers Retreat</a> to see the other bloggers on the tour and check out the amazing prizes on offer. You just have to make a cushion. You never know right ...</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-A2-EoseclF0/V4MmN7JXRGI/AAAAAAAAFHY/2KwWtA-GFigMKgLI2biVYGGPmliVQeIFwCLcB/s1600/Garland%2Bpattern%2Bcover.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-A2-EoseclF0/V4MmN7JXRGI/AAAAAAAAFHY/2KwWtA-GFigMKgLI2biVYGGPmliVQeIFwCLcB/s400/Garland%2Bpattern%2Bcover.png" width="276" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">So the pattern is for a Christmas Garland. mmmm not feeling terribly Christmas-y right now (please tell me I have more time to get organised!). So I asked, did she want me to make a Christmas one or different?</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><i>"Different would be nice but whatever you like, make it your own!"</i></span></blockquote>
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">mmmm make it my own? Given I'm relatively new to this quilting caper, I'm not sure I really have a style yet. But I wanted to try something different rather than a Christmas one. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2dXZUxX6jmg/V4Mo5YeoRJI/AAAAAAAAFHk/KCryCV_yj28n1InqPZ13LAtyNnMpV8i4ACLcB/s1600/Lil%2BPip%2BDesigns_Making%2BMerry%2BGarland_Preview.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2dXZUxX6jmg/V4Mo5YeoRJI/AAAAAAAAFHk/KCryCV_yj28n1InqPZ13LAtyNnMpV8i4ACLcB/s320/Lil%2BPip%2BDesigns_Making%2BMerry%2BGarland_Preview.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">I was inspired by a single line in the pattern <i>"make a fairy </i></span><span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><i>ring"</i>. I knew Miss 7 would love something like that so I gave it a go. I fully intended to make a 12" mini (it has five different sizes in the pattern - how cool is that) but I totally (stuffed up) cut the 8" mini size. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">I clearly decided to give myself a challenge. Here is how I made it my own:</span><br />
<ul>
<li><span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">cut six feature fabrics instead of two, then</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">cut them a different size and</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">made them a different way to the pattern (shhhh don't tell Alyce, figured I needed 12 HSTs and I got there in the end!)</span></li>
</ul>
<div>
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Next time I think I will choose even more fabrics to really emphasize the rainbow I was aiming for. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">I decided on a simple cross hatch quilting design using a gorgeous creamy-gold Aurifil. </span></div>
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">When I did that it was just not quite right ... It needed more. So I pulled out my trusty embroidery thread and added some lazy daisy flowers (inspired by Karen Lewis's fabrics) and simple french knots. Each section has three different colours.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-NTAVbQyOe6A/V4Mo7-pRKXI/AAAAAAAAFHo/qn1_6il3rUQt7VsI78cktuNVId64oyJoQCLcB/s1600/Lil%2BPip%2BDesigns_Making%2BMerry%2BGarland_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-NTAVbQyOe6A/V4Mo7-pRKXI/AAAAAAAAFHo/qn1_6il3rUQt7VsI78cktuNVId64oyJoQCLcB/s400/Lil%2BPip%2BDesigns_Making%2BMerry%2BGarland_1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">While I did pretty well hiding the stitches, a few escaped to the back - meanwhile how awesome does the back look!!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">All the fabric are amazing Karen Lewis Blueberry Park except for the binding. I was lazy and already had this cut and leftover from another project so it seemed silly to waste it. </span><br />

There are so many things you could make but I'm just limiting to a couple of my favourites.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><b>Lil Pip Clutch</b></span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Last year I wrote tutorials for metal frames supplied with the Sew Box monthly subscription. Every frame is different and it is fairly easy to work out the pattern (I say that but you should see all my test versions!). </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">This one was one of my favourites - <a href="http://www.lilpipdesigns.com/2015/02/lil-pip-sew-box-purse-with-quilt-as-you.html">a quilt as you go version</a>. You might prefer the little <a href="http://www.lilpipdesigns.com/2015/02/lil-pip-sew-box-metal-frame-coin-purse.html">coin purse</a>, <a href="http://www.lilpipdesigns.com/2015/02/lil-pip-sew-box-metal-frame-clutch.html">plain clutch</a>, <a href="http://www.lilpipdesigns.com/2015/02/lil-pip-sew-box-purse-glam-version-with.html">glam version</a> with lace and beading detail, <a href="http://www.lilpipdesigns.com/2015/02/lil-pip-sew-box-purse-how-to-make.html">glasses case</a> (I'm not responsible for damage to glasses!) or add a <a href="http://www.lilpipdesigns.com/2015/02/lil-pip-sew-box-purse-with-hand.html">little hand stitching</a> (surprise, surprise mine has an owl!).</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<b style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif; font-size: x-large;">Cushion cover</b><br />
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">My mum is moving into a new house in May. I'm sure she will spend some time in deciding how to decorate, perfect colours and so on but I know she would love a little handmade cushion by me. I have a few quilt blocks that I made last year for the </span><a href="http://www.lilpipdesigns.com/search/label/Quilt%20Block%20Boot%20Camp" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">Quilt Block Boot Camp</a><span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"> that I didn't finish but I'm just as likely to go back to the drawing board and find something that suits her perfectly. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">I love Ros' aka Sew Delicious version of the <a href="http://sewdelicious.com.au/2015/03/economy-block-cushion.html">Economy Block Cushion</a>, R<a href="http://sewdelicious.com.au/2015/02/raspberry-kiss-cushion.html">aspberry Kiss Cushion </a>with all that low volume or the striking <a href="http://sewdelicious.com.au/2015/06/london-calling-quilted-cushions.html">London Calling cushion</a>. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><b>Emma Clutch Tote</b></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">My friend Amy's (of Ladybug and Daisychain fame) first pattern was the </span><a href="http://www.ladybugsanddaisychains.com/2015/02/emma-clutch-tote.html" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">Emma Clutch Tote</a><span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">. I was lucky to be one of the original testers but challenged myself a little too much with my fabric choices. I need to circle back and make another with some pretty cotton fabric (rather than the heavy drill I used the first time!). </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Here is Amy's example. Love how you can hold the handle or flip it over to be a clutch. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">I made this <a href="http://www.lilpipdesigns.com/2014/06/lil-pip-challenge-commuter-cowl-by.html">commuter cowl</a> last year - was so quick and easy to put together. I also have this <a href="http://makeitperfect.com.au/products/scarves-and-cowls/">Make it Perfect Scarves and Cowls pattern</a> (seriously $3 - bargain!) so I might try one of those too. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">I've been using the Pilot Frixion pens for a while but with my recent foray into the land of quilting (am I a quilter now?), I thought I would conduct a very rigorous scientific experiment to see how they shape up (you can detect the sarcasm there right?). </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><b>The Hypothesis </b></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><i><b>"The erased lines reappear in low temperatures"</b></i></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">I've read other reviews - <a href="http://www.freshlypieced.com/2013/07/frixion-pens-should-you-use-them-for.html">Freshly Pieced for example</a> - but as soon as they start talking about snow, I kinda wonder if it is relevant in our Australian climate ie hot!!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Now I'll preface all this by saying that Pilot (makers of the FriXion pens) are designed for paper. The are not designed for fabric or tested while developing them. </span></div>
<blockquote class="tr_bq" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">"<i>perfect for everyday use at work, home or school. With no damage to the paper, you can erase and instantly re-write over your mistakes.</i>"</span></blockquote>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Information online does state that the ink will reappear in temperatures below -20 degrees.</span></div>
<blockquote class="tr_bq" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">"</span><span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><i>The friction-generated heat caused when rubbing the paper with the special tip turns the ink invisible (put the document in the freezer and the ink re-appears)."</i></span></blockquote>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><b>The Test</b></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><i><b>"Test the fabric in temperatures below -18 and between 0-4 and a control of approximately 28-30 degrees"</b></i></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><b>Method and Materials</b></span></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">I used two styles of FriXion erasable pens: the <a href="http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/pilot-frixion-ball-fine-erasable-gel-pen-black-da622701">Gel Pen in Black and Blue</a> and <a href="http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/pilot-frixion-colours-erasable-marker-violet-pi622661">Marker in Violet</a>. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Here is before photo. I ruled three lines onto three 5" charm squares. One to be placed in the freezer, one in the fridge and one was my 'control'.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3TLWRhcjBX8/Vrl3fmbSLXI/AAAAAAAAFBc/VrW9YMgF7f0/s1600/Frixion%2Bpen%2Breview%2Bfor%2Bfabric%2Band%2Bquilting_a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="456" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3TLWRhcjBX8/Vrl3fmbSLXI/AAAAAAAAFBc/VrW9YMgF7f0/s640/Frixion%2Bpen%2Breview%2Bfor%2Bfabric%2Band%2Bquilting_a.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">I gave them all a quick press with steam. Not talking long here people and I possibly could have ironed longer, with starch, sprayed water or something (maybe a later test!). You can see where the heat has removed the words I wrote at the top and I didn't even go over the top, that's just from the iron close to it.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-g1GbF3lHeD4/Vrl3fh-xf8I/AAAAAAAAFBk/_BSvfkhkEJI/s1600/Frixion%2Bpen%2Breview%2Bfor%2Bfabric%2Band%2Bquilting_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="456" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-g1GbF3lHeD4/Vrl3fh-xf8I/AAAAAAAAFBk/_BSvfkhkEJI/s640/Frixion%2Bpen%2Breview%2Bfor%2Bfabric%2Band%2Bquilting_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">I then popped the 'freezer' one into the freezer. Flat on a pull out drawer for one hour. The 'fridge' went into the top shelf .... on top of a box of choccies... mmmm I should find them again... and finally the 'control' was left right on my kitchen table. Now I will say that there was a good chance the fridge and freezer were opened a few times during that hour so possibly some changes in temperature! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">As an indication, I found <a href="https://www.choice.com.au/home-and-living/kitchen/fridges/articles/temperature-guide">this temperature guide</a> from Choice. Fridge temperatures should be between 0-4 degrees and freezers should be -18 degrees. Now depending on where you live in Australia, you might get fridge type temperatures but I don't know of any where (unless you live in the snowy mountains areas!) that gets below -18 degrees. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif; font-size: large;"><b>Analyse and Results</b></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><i><b>"Lines have returned at the lower freezer temperatures and faint lines at the fridge temperatures"</b></i></span></div>
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">After one hour I removed the fabric charms and here is what I found. </span><span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">The lines had certainly reappeared on the freezer fabric and faint lines on the fabric from the fridge. The control fabric was exactly the same. </span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-fEj94GFJfyo/Vrl3f0Btr-I/AAAAAAAAFBg/R_qeJJGBLIY/s1600/Frixion%2Bpen%2Breview%2Bfor%2Bfabric%2Band%2Bquilting_c.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="456" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-fEj94GFJfyo/Vrl3f0Btr-I/AAAAAAAAFBg/R_qeJJGBLIY/s640/Frixion%2Bpen%2Breview%2Bfor%2Bfabric%2Band%2Bquilting_c.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">If you ironed it again the lines would disappear. The freezer temperature fabric is much more prominent than the fridge fabric. I even had to draw these amazing little arrows on the photo as I didn't think you would see where they were! The line was only from the marker rather than the pen at this temperature.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I've noticed a trend with some of my favourite bloggers. Writing less and less and just snapping more and more. What? It's the <a href="https://www.instagram.com/lilpipdesigns/">Instagram</a> sharing I'm talking about. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-elvwuuFw1MU/Vm3lq3YnDvI/AAAAAAAAE_A/q5q__WpvXcs/s1600/Instgram.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="358" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-elvwuuFw1MU/Vm3lq3YnDvI/AAAAAAAAE_A/q5q__WpvXcs/s640/Instgram.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">My current Instagram feed - with Jingle our elf and a few handmade Christmas things</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I made some amazing dolls clothes yesterday as my little girl is getting an <a href="http://www.australiangirldoll.com.au/">Australian Girl Doll</a> for Christmas from her grandparents.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Of course I want to share with you. Do I:</span><br />
<br />
<ul>
<li><span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">take photos - either with my DSLR camera or iPhone</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">transfer to computer</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">editing them, adjusting the colour, cropping the size, adding my business name</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">write up a blog post, adding links to all the patterns I made</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">press go and perhaps be seen by the 5 people who follow me</span></li>
</ul>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Or ...</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Share a quick snap on <a href="https://www.instagram.com/lilpipdesigns/">Instagram</a>, quickly using one of the various filters to make the photo look better, hashtag and tag to share around and receive heaps of comments and those awesome little love buttons!!</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">You see where I'm going with this. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">So my New Year's blog-olution is to just not stress about my blog so much. I absolutely intend on sharing more. Possibly when I make something amazing, that I want people to find, that I want to share forever more. But when it comes to my day-to-day crafty capers - you'll see more of me in my favourite place ... <a href="https://www.instagram.com/lilpipdesigns/">Instagram</a>!</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Do you have a New Year resolution? Or Blog-olution?</span></div>

</ul>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">And there are more, I just haven't blogged them!!</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-EOoZ212ZXac/VhNCYJPOhvI/AAAAAAAAEwY/JVuAWKGgDYs/s1600/Hour%2BBasket_Kelby%2BSews_Lil%2BPip%2BDesigns_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="456" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-EOoZ212ZXac/VhNCYJPOhvI/AAAAAAAAEwY/JVuAWKGgDYs/s640/Hour%2BBasket_Kelby%2BSews_Lil%2BPip%2BDesigns_1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Another baby to make for and this time I was factoring in that I would be going to Brisbane for work so wanted something easy to transport. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I was fortunate to win this car fabric on Instagram and teamed with a Kona red solid and this awesome grey inside - it made a fantastic storage basket for nappies and so forth now and can't you just imagine it filled with cars in the future? </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">The pattern says you can make the basket from a fat quarter but I'm not convinced. By adding this strip at the top, I was able to make it work. Possibly due to this directional fabric? Or my own bad measurements!</span><br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QJ3edHqEqNc/VhMvTXCcmZI/AAAAAAAAEv0/w0EmD-0ljdQ/s1600/Baby%2BGift%2BSet_Lil%2BPip%2BDesigns_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QJ3edHqEqNc/VhMvTXCcmZI/AAAAAAAAEv0/w0EmD-0ljdQ/s640/Baby%2BGift%2BSet_Lil%2BPip%2BDesigns_1.jpg" width="456" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">My next door neighbour had her second baby last week. We are pretty close and when I got the call, was happy to head over for a sleep over to take care of bubs big sister (she is 2!). It was a pretty exciting week with lots of playdates with my two older owlets, remembering how all consuming toddlers can be and a few sneaky little newborn cuddles - and by that I mean when he was just one day old!!! (Cue the 'nawwhhhhhs'). </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I knew I wanted to make something as she would appreciate a handmade gift. After a little online searching and checking through my stash (determined to use what I had), this is what I came up with. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><b>Snuggle blanket</b></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Backed with beautiful soft minky, this little blanket is designed to wrap baby now but perhaps just snuggle with as he grows. It isn't huge and I just used what I had in terms of fabric. (I forgot to take measurements but probably around 30inches square - or 75cms). This gorgeous elephant splash fabric from Spotlight has been in my stash for a year or so. Happy to put it to good use!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Xqyg2nQeDME/VhMvWQiAJNI/AAAAAAAAEwI/-fQHpXqyr6o/s1600/Baby%2BGift%2BSet_baby%2Bblanket_Lil%2BPip%2BDesigns_3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Xqyg2nQeDME/VhMvWQiAJNI/AAAAAAAAEwI/-fQHpXqyr6o/s640/Baby%2BGift%2BSet_baby%2Bblanket_Lil%2BPip%2BDesigns_3.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><b>Fabric basket</b></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">There was only a very narrow strip of fabric left after making the blanket and I wanted to use it all. I decided to make a little fabric basket and this time teamed it with a Kona Solid called 'Pear'. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">If anyone knows where my extensive selection of interfacing has disappeared to - I would love to know. I found a little batting and quilted it to the outside. Raided one of my Sew Box's for some thin interfacing for the lining (really need to find the medium and thicker weight interfacing I know I have!).</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pZriRnV8Stc/VhMvFg6dCSI/AAAAAAAAEvQ/7y_97fmZLIw/s1600/Baby%2BGift%2BSet_Fabric%2Bbasket_Lil%2BPip%2BDesigns_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pZriRnV8Stc/VhMvFg6dCSI/AAAAAAAAEvQ/7y_97fmZLIw/s640/Baby%2BGift%2BSet_Fabric%2Bbasket_Lil%2BPip%2BDesigns_1.jpg" width="456" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">If you are interested in the template before I made it - the dimensions are around 13 inches high x 11 inches wide. I cut 3 inch squares from each corner (probably could have been 2.5). </span><br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EWl6Fb_yjq0/VhMvFZuGW0I/AAAAAAAAEvI/nG9P-_BrcVw/s1600/Baby%2BGift%2BSet_Fabric%2Bbasket_Lil%2BPip%2BDesigns_2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EWl6Fb_yjq0/VhMvFZuGW0I/AAAAAAAAEvI/nG9P-_BrcVw/s640/Baby%2BGift%2BSet_Fabric%2Bbasket_Lil%2BPip%2BDesigns_2.jpg" width="456" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">It is perfect now to fit a nappy or two, wipes and nappy bags but a good size to stash some toys as he grows. </span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-MLH0KlpZ-YI/VhMvFfvbw1I/AAAAAAAAEvM/xmu17VfbCxU/s1600/Baby%2BGift%2BSet_Fabric%2Bbasket_Lil%2BPip%2BDesigns_3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-MLH0KlpZ-YI/VhMvFfvbw1I/AAAAAAAAEvM/xmu17VfbCxU/s640/Baby%2BGift%2BSet_Fabric%2Bbasket_Lil%2BPip%2BDesigns_3.jpg" width="456" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><b>Elephant taggy toy</b></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">I cut out these elephant shapes months and months ago from a Flosstyle Babies First Toy pattern - <a href="http://www.lilpipdesigns.com/2015/03/pattern-review-babies-first-toys.html">see my review here</a>. But in a HUGE fail moment, I cut four the exact same way (rather than flipping so I would have matching sides). </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">In a lightening bolt moment, I thought I would make these little taggy toys. There seems to be lots of babies around me at the moment so I whipped up four at the same time. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">Miss 6 got involved and choose all the ribbons and backing minky. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">This little orange guy went with our gift next door.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-7hJ83Bnz8NQ/VhHjKSdsszI/AAAAAAAAEtw/ArwTW6yooRA/s1600/Herringbone%2Bquilt_Cotton%2Band%2BSteel_Lil%2BPip%2BDesigns_4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="456" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-7hJ83Bnz8NQ/VhHjKSdsszI/AAAAAAAAEtw/ArwTW6yooRA/s640/Herringbone%2Bquilt_Cotton%2Band%2BSteel_Lil%2BPip%2BDesigns_4.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><a href="http://www.msmidge.com.au/">Ms Midge</a> (aka Melissa but seriously everyone calls her Midge!) regularly hosts Charm Swaps and when I saw <a href="http://www.msmidge.com.au/cotton-steel-aussie-charm-swap-sign-ups-are-open/">this one come up for Cotton and Steel</a> - I was in!<br /><br />56 people buy two fabrics, cut them into 5 inch squares, send them to Midge who sends back the 112 different squares. I had no idea what I was going to make but knew I wanted something for myself. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I searched Pinterest for ages. I'm really not a quilter (though according to Midge - now I am!) but I really wanted to do something with these that wasn't just sewing the squares together. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">So I decided on this cool herringbone pattern and teamed it with this Charcoal Shot Cotton from Spotlight (which was used by a couple of others in the Swap group). </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I started with a couple and laid them out ....</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-cQKDYY52l2s/VhHvIdLlY7I/AAAAAAAAEuE/Q_6yuYvIAv0/s1600/Herringbone%2Bquilt_Cotton%2Band%2BSteel_Lil%2BPip%2BDesigns_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-cQKDYY52l2s/VhHvIdLlY7I/AAAAAAAAEuE/Q_6yuYvIAv0/s640/Herringbone%2Bquilt_Cotton%2Band%2BSteel_Lil%2BPip%2BDesigns_1.jpg" width="456" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Did a mountain of trimming (I was trimming the four sides as I don't trust myself on the two side method) ...</span><br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5mTR0KVLOtU/VhHvIV2R3DI/AAAAAAAAEuI/fEZf3h5SLFw/s1600/Herringbone%2Bquilt_Cotton%2Band%2BSteel_Lil%2BPip%2BDesigns_2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5mTR0KVLOtU/VhHvIV2R3DI/AAAAAAAAEuI/fEZf3h5SLFw/s320/Herringbone%2Bquilt_Cotton%2Band%2BSteel_Lil%2BPip%2BDesigns_2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Ended up with about 120 squares (or HSTs - half square triangles). I didn't use them all. Oh and no pinks or reds are in my quilt - I'll make something else with those.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iuVWvvfo2H4/VhHvIY5psVI/AAAAAAAAEuA/xhhhTYbEbrY/s1600/Herringbone%2Bquilt_Cotton%2Band%2BSteel_Lil%2BPip%2BDesigns_3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iuVWvvfo2H4/VhHvIY5psVI/AAAAAAAAEuA/xhhhTYbEbrY/s320/Herringbone%2Bquilt_Cotton%2Band%2BSteel_Lil%2BPip%2BDesigns_3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Decided to do a variegated pattern rather than random. Love the end result with this going from the dark blacks and navy's on the left, the blues and greens in the middle, the neutrals and multi coloured on the right. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YDwYEdsyTb4/VhHvKLQha8I/AAAAAAAAEuY/P1C9yZ_vP_4/s1600/Herringbone%2Bquilt_Cotton%2Band%2BSteel_Lil%2BPip%2BDesigns_5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YDwYEdsyTb4/VhHvKLQha8I/AAAAAAAAEuY/P1C9yZ_vP_4/s640/Herringbone%2Bquilt_Cotton%2Band%2BSteel_Lil%2BPip%2BDesigns_5.jpg" width="456" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I know this really chopped up some of the patterns and some might say I ruined some of the charms (I couldn't bare to chop into a couple so saved them for other projects) but I think there were a few successes to. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Little birds ...</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-0MNHFqDLyKA/VhHvKRpvXFI/AAAAAAAAEuc/ij05scR4Kfo/s1600/Herringbone%2Bquilt_Cotton%2Band%2BSteel_Lil%2BPip%2BDesigns_6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-0MNHFqDLyKA/VhHvKRpvXFI/AAAAAAAAEuc/ij05scR4Kfo/s640/Herringbone%2Bquilt_Cotton%2Band%2BSteel_Lil%2BPip%2BDesigns_6.jpg" width="456" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Friendly spider!</span><br />
<div>
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-QJQRt2WpSxM/VhHvKukCB2I/AAAAAAAAEuk/y9VYanwZzcs/s1600/Herringbone%2Bquilt_Cotton%2Band%2BSteel_Lil%2BPip%2BDesigns_7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-QJQRt2WpSxM/VhHvKukCB2I/AAAAAAAAEuk/y9VYanwZzcs/s640/Herringbone%2Bquilt_Cotton%2Band%2BSteel_Lil%2BPip%2BDesigns_7.jpg" width="456" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I'm tracking down some more of this charcoal shot cotton so I can add to the top of the quilt and make it a proper queen size. Then I'm going to send it off to be professionally longarm quilted. No way am I attempting this one myself. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">So I will make HSTs again, I think I'm rather good at them now but seriously it will be a long time before I make this many for one quilt. Really not my favourite thing.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I'm pretty happy with the end result!!</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-N0KduxGhxrY/Vd5D3qTdPeI/AAAAAAAAEf0/DWBRRhAXyvU/s1600/Weathervane%2Bquilt%2Bblock_Bee%2Bin%2Bmy%2BBonnet_Lil%2BPip%2BDesigns.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-N0KduxGhxrY/Vd5D3qTdPeI/AAAAAAAAEf0/DWBRRhAXyvU/s640/Weathervane%2Bquilt%2Bblock_Bee%2Bin%2Bmy%2BBonnet_Lil%2BPip%2BDesigns.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">This time the <a href="http://beeinmybonnetco.blogspot.com.au/2011/07/easy-weathervane-quilt-block-tutorial.html">Easy Weathervane Block by Bee in My Bonnet</a>. While I agree in theory this is easy, I really struggle with the small blocks, much prefer the larger finished size of 10-12" square. This one finishes at just 6.5" x 6.5" unfinished. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">If you wanted to try the same block in a bigger size, another Quilt Block Boot Camp member suggested this <a href="http://www.mccallsquilting.com/content_downloads/WeathervaneBlock.pdf">one by McCalls</a> which is 12" x 12" square.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I struggled a little with the requirements in the tutorial. </span><span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">If you are more methodical than visual, here is what you need (excuse the likely late night quick photo in bad lighting!): </span></div>
<div>
<br style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;" /><ul>
<li><span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">1x 2.5" square centre (strawberry)</span><span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"> </span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">4x 2.5" square middle sides (gingham)</span><span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"> </span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">12x 1.5" square for the corners (strawberry)</span><span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"> </span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">20x 1.5" square white</span><span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"> </span></li>
</ul>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4HZVP98CoEQ/Vd5EKTsba8I/AAAAAAAAEf8/WZPBeUoR38Q/s1600/Weathervane%2Bquilt%2Bblock_Bee%2Bin%2Bmy%2BBonnet_Lil%2BPip%2BDesigns_3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4HZVP98CoEQ/Vd5EKTsba8I/AAAAAAAAEf8/WZPBeUoR38Q/s320/Weathervane%2Bquilt%2Bblock_Bee%2Bin%2Bmy%2BBonnet_Lil%2BPip%2BDesigns_3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Really not sure that I will be rushing to make this one again but honestly it was good to know that I will happily avoid small and scrappy blocks!!</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Really need to make some things with all these little (and big blocks). I need a some days in the sewing room to just pump out some cushions, bags, hangings, runnners or what ever I end up making with them!</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">A friend asked me to make this quilt as a gift for a soon to be born, baby boy. They are obviously into martial arts and would love a quilt made from ninjas with strong colours of black, red, cream and grey. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">The range is <a href="https://www.rileyblakedesigns.com/shop/category/riley-blake-designs/available-now/year-of-the-ninja-2/year-of-the-ninja-cottons-1/">Year of the Ninja by Scott Jarrard for Riley Blake</a>. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I debated over what I was going to do for ages but then decided to keep it really simple - just 5 inch squares and basic straight line quilting. </span><br />
<br />

<br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">The binding is one from <a href="http://www.sewthisandthat.com.au/">Sew This and That</a> (a Brisbane based store I recently discovered that is fantastic!). It is called Marcus Fabric's Quartette Collection and is a lovely cream and black and I love how well it worked together. </span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Hope the little guy loves these dragons on the back - surely they would cause nightmares!! I quilted it with Aurifil 2600 silver and just love how it looks on the back. I can't believe it doesn't have any tucks but I will take a look at some basting spray for a smoother finish.</span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Before I finalised the design, I played with the idea of a disappearing nine patch. Rather than waste my efforts, I turned it into a little cushion and used the awesome <a href="http://www.msmidge.com.au/cushion-for-christmas-blog-hop-orphan-blocks-cushion-enclosed-zipper-tutorial/">zip insertion tutorial</a> by MsMidge for the back. </span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">When my swap partner - Leanne from <a href="http://sewnbyleanne.com.au/">Sewn by Leanne</a> - told me her fabric colour was orange, I might have panicked. I really don't have ANYTHING in my stash that is orange. Other than this single solid piece of cotton (which is quite thin, possibly a poplin?). I wanted to make something with her favourite colour so decided to use it for lining a zipper pouch.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I used the <a href="http://www.noodle-head.com/2012/06/open-wide-zippered-pouch-diy-tutorial.html">Open Wide Zipper Pouch by Noodlehead</a> tutorial - I use this technique so much now! And decided to go glam with this navy and gold fabric I picked up from Spotlight. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">This one is much bigger than the other little hexie pouch I made. Perfect for storing sewing supplies or even could be used as a clutch for a day out. </span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I'm very guilty of sewing just a few extra things when I do swaps. Just can't help myself. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I've been looking at making a hexie (english paper piecing) cushion for my daughter. I have well over 100 probably close to 150 little 1 inch hexies made now. I remember Ros from Sew Delicious had made a little <a href="http://sewdelicious.com.au/2014/12/quilted-hexie-mug-rug.html">mug rug with hexies</a> but thought I would try a little pouch. I really like the more modern spaced look rather than joined together. It was a good way to try the method before making something bigger.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Check out my <a href="https://www.pinterest.com/lilpipdesigns/inspiration-for-hexies/">inspiration board</a> on Pinterest for all sorts of ideas with hexies.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">The pouch is only small (whoops didn't take measurements before I sent it but the zip is probably only 6 inches so about that size). </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I adore this sewing themed fabric from <a href="http://cottonfactory.bigcartel.com/">Cotton Factory</a>. Not sure if it is on the website as I bought from Instagram. Probably should get some more as I know I will love using it for swaps and myself!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Lined with a very bright Kona solid - Pear from my Aussie Kona Club by <a href="http://www.handmadebyemily.com.au/">Handmade by Emily</a>.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Popped a few little goodies from Daiso in the parcel too. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Hope my swap partner likes it! If she is anything like me, another little pouch is always handy.</span><br />

<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-JP-CrmIbSCY/VdKwhlsx_OI/AAAAAAAAEcE/HZIsR257RBg/s1600/Quiet%2BPlay%2BCreate%2BPaper%2BPiecing_Lil%2BPip%2BDesigns_3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="456" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-JP-CrmIbSCY/VdKwhlsx_OI/AAAAAAAAEcE/HZIsR257RBg/s640/Quiet%2BPlay%2BCreate%2BPaper%2BPiecing_Lil%2BPip%2BDesigns_3.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">You may have seen this shared on my <a href="http://www.instagram.com/lilpipdesigns">Instagram</a>. I hope that everyone will indulge me when I gush over this one! Have you created something that you are just so incredibly proud of? That you look at and think 'I actually made that!!'. Well this in my project.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I made this for a swap - my partner was Leanne from Sewn by Leanne (go and take a look at <a href="http://sewnbyleanne.com.au/one-hour-basket/">what she made me</a> and some crazy silly photos I sent her which are now out there - eeeekkk lol!!!)</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Leanne shares my love of Cotton and Steel. Her sewing space is in her kitchen (mine is my bedside table!) so I was mindful not to make something that was too out there and could happily sit in a kitchen or sewing space.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gDbJ_LLqoaY/VdKwhga5mcI/AAAAAAAAEcI/eO0QQBS-1lo/s1600/Quiet%2BPlay%2BCreate%2BPaper%2BPiecing_Lil%2BPip%2BDesigns_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="456" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gDbJ_LLqoaY/VdKwhga5mcI/AAAAAAAAEcI/eO0QQBS-1lo/s640/Quiet%2BPlay%2BCreate%2BPaper%2BPiecing_Lil%2BPip%2BDesigns_1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">I saw this amazing paper-piecing by Kristy at </span><a href="http://quietplay.blogspot.com.au/" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">Quiet Play</a><span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"> and knew Leanne would appreciate it (ya kinda want the person who receives it to know about the hours that goes into it!! Not quite as easy as it looks!). </span><div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-aeODI2QWAQI/VdKwhuJt-KI/AAAAAAAAEcA/81UYcAIXPOg/s1600/Quiet%2BPlay%2BCreate%2BPaper%2BPiecing_Lil%2BPip%2BDesigns_2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="456" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-aeODI2QWAQI/VdKwhuJt-KI/AAAAAAAAEcA/81UYcAIXPOg/s640/Quiet%2BPlay%2BCreate%2BPaper%2BPiecing_Lil%2BPip%2BDesigns_2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">This is the panel when I finished. I decided it was a bit flat. It needed something but I wasn't quite sure what. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I haven't mastered free motion quilting yet but when I googled straight stitching, I stumbled across the idea of 'matchstick' quilting. Basically straight(ish) lines really close to each other. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">It gave me the opportunity to play with my new Aurifil cottons (thanks to <a href="http://www.msmidge.com.au/">MsMidge</a>) and I went to town with all the different colours. I can't even begin to tell you what amazing texture this gives the basket. You just can't help but touch it. It does have an added bonus with the handles standing up nice and firmly there.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-MSw-47Laclw/VdKwjTd7GCI/AAAAAAAAEcY/gHTKfbsFxF8/s1600/Quiet%2BPlay%2BCreate%2BPaper%2BPiecing_Lil%2BPip%2BDesigns_4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="456" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-MSw-47Laclw/VdKwjTd7GCI/AAAAAAAAEcY/gHTKfbsFxF8/s640/Quiet%2BPlay%2BCreate%2BPaper%2BPiecing_Lil%2BPip%2BDesigns_4.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">All it needed was a little more C&S for the lining. </span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-cYbfTspq9_M/VdKwjbllK2I/AAAAAAAAEcc/z0BpZWQrfnA/s1600/Quiet%2BPlay%2BCreate%2BPaper%2BPiecing_Lil%2BPip%2BDesigns_5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="456" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-cYbfTspq9_M/VdKwjbllK2I/AAAAAAAAEcc/z0BpZWQrfnA/s640/Quiet%2BPlay%2BCreate%2BPaper%2BPiecing_Lil%2BPip%2BDesigns_5.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Honestly, I can't even begin to describe how hard it was to send this one. Lucky it was going to a very deserving person (seriously I'm joking here people!).</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Stay tuned in the next few days as I share the other couple of things I made to add to the parcel. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I'm still plodding along with lots of different types of block for the Quilt Block Boot Camp. Learning so much each and every time - ironing seams open versus to the dark side and the scant 1/4" seam versus a 1/4". I've learnt that quilting is WAY more exact that clothing is. WAY more!! </span></div>

<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I know I probably have other bags I could use but when I decided I need a simple tote bag to carry my lunch to work in (doesn't fit in my handbag), I decided I had to make one. My design requirements:</span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">quick - I think this took an hour?!?</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">no interfacing or mucking around, so I choose denim and reversed it</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">a little embellishment using this cute woodland ribbon and owl buttons from my Sew Box</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">and a lining that screamed me - the linen with owls from the Sew Box</span></li>
</ul>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">You can see my unboxing video with the Woodland themed box from June <a href="http://www.lilpipdesigns.com/2015/06/sew-box-unboxing-video.html">here</a>. I was pretty excited about this one. The denim was from a previous month. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Here is what I came up with!</span></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jp57kDBu434/VZDiYnkrVPI/AAAAAAAAEaE/5U-9lLWUhK0/s1600/Lil%2BPip%2BDesigns_denim%2Bowl%2Bbag%2B3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jp57kDBu434/VZDiYnkrVPI/AAAAAAAAEaE/5U-9lLWUhK0/s640/Lil%2BPip%2BDesigns_denim%2Bowl%2Bbag%2B3.jpg" width="456" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I think these buttons are my favourite part!! I may hoard the others I have left. </span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">When I saw the <a href="http://www.thingsforboys.com/2015/05/the-selfish-swap.html">Selfish Swap</a> from my friend Abby from Things for Boys, I just had to laugh. Then sign up! Abby is a crack up and this is totally her humour. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">So make something... anything... for yourself! </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">My partner (wink wink) made this amazing (if I do say so) selvage/selvedge* hour basket (previously I have made a <a href="http://www.lilpipdesigns.com/2015/06/my-first-hour-basket-by-kelby-sews.html">denim one</a>). </span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I'm told, that this took WAY longer than an hour. My swap partner planned to make this all along and then Ros aka <a href="http://sewdelicious.com.au/2015/05/fabric-selvedge-basket.html">Sew Delicious made one</a> - SOLD! Plus provided a handy <a href="http://sewdelicious.com.au/2015/05/how-to-sew-a-selvedge-panel-tutorial.html">tutorial</a>, too easy.</span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">I love looking at the two different sides, remembering what I made (whoops, what my partner made, man this is getting confusing). Looking at what would now be OPP (out of print) and possibly sell for a mint. Some are from 2010 when I first started my business and some are recent purchases. </span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I'm really not a pink person. Like at all. For me personally. But for my business, I use it a lot. Hard to avoid as little girls tend to love pink! I do make sure we have plenty of green, purple and red too. </span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I wouldn't usually like something with pink in it but in this case it is showing all the beautiful fabrics and the cool selvedges.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I thought I would share a quilt I made a couple of years ago. I don't think I took any other photos than this one. I just stumbled across it recently and thought I would share it. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Looking back, it is actually a really cool quilt. I know the mum I made it for (my best friend) loves it so I guess that's all that matters. Most of the fabric I bought from Spotlight and I literally just sewed together the strips at the different widths and did some straight line quilting. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">You can see that I took it to an embroidery place and had his name added. A cute touch don't you think?</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I wanted something that would last for many years. Beyond the baby stage so I specifically choose graphic rather than 'baby' fabrics.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">If you check out my <a href="https://www.pinterest.com/lilpipdesigns/inspiration-for-quilts/">Inspiration for Quilts Pinterest Board</a>, you will see I have quite a few examples of this style as I really love the simplicity of it. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I want to make one for my son but need it to be double size. Thinking I might do similar but create it into four mega 'blocks' and then rotate it. <br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Is that like the worst blog title ever? Sorry about that. It's been one of those days!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I thought I would give you some more ideas on how to use ribbon. Most of these ribbons are from my Sew Box Subscriptions over a couple of months. Just supplemented with some I already had and some clips (either alligator or french barrettes). </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">The tutorial for the tuxedo box is <a href="http://www.lilpipdesigns.com/2015/04/birthday-gift-ideas-with-sarah-lauren.html">here</a>. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">These will now go in my little birthday gift stash for future use. Well those that aren't nabbed by Miss 6. </span></div>

<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-f8dXtWNxRok/VYn_8sYEc5I/AAAAAAAAEWk/pxK8JXU1mvE/s1600/Lil%2BPip%2BDesigns_Boobook%2Btaggy%2Bowl_2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="456" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-f8dXtWNxRok/VYn_8sYEc5I/AAAAAAAAEWk/pxK8JXU1mvE/s640/Lil%2BPip%2BDesigns_Boobook%2Btaggy%2Bowl_2.jpg" width="640" /></span></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">When I was approached by Alisa (<a href="http://astitchinbetween.blogspot.com/">A Stitch in Between</a>) and Renee (<a href="http://www.nearestthepin.com.au/">Nearest the Pin</a>) to participate in a virtual baby shower for the gorgeous Jenya from <a href="http://whileshesleeping.blogspot.com.au/">While she was sleeping</a>, it took about .3 seconds to respond with YESSSSSS.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I knew instantly what I would make and send. Those who have been following me for a while will recognise my Boobook Taggy Owl. This is how my little business started. I designed and made these owls. Each and every single one is different. Every single one with a different name. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Would you believe I have made over 200 of them now? I may have gotten slightly, ... maybe... a little bit .... sick of them. I have a few at home that are in various stages of production and I'm determined to finish them off. In making this one, I remembered just how much I did love making them. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I'm also in the process of writing a pattern and tutorial to sell. What do you think? Would you buy it? Honestly it is almost complete. Must get onto that!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">They are designed for babies but suit through to teething toddlers. A comfort, snugly with the soft minky backing, a toy to play with, a teething relief (ya know how babies seem to chop on the tags of everything!) and something lovely to display.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">So a few details:</span><br />
<br />
<ul>
<li><span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">the back is beautiful soft minky </span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">the ribbons are all heat sealed, basted, sewn and top stitched - they aren't going anywhere!</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">the 'wings' have crinkle included so they make noise</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">perfect for little bubbas through to teething toddlers (and actually I have had some go to 5 to 7 year olds that love them and I know of a few hanging in some sewing rooms!)</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">they are machine washable - come on, we are talking babies here, they need to be easy care!</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Why Boobook? You can find out the origin of the name <a href="http://www.lilpipdesigns.com/2011/10/day-31-what-is-boobook.html">here</a>.</span></li>
</ul>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I'm so excited to be involved with all these amazing bloggers in the virtual baby shower! Go check out what they have made.</span><br />

<li><span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><a href="http://sewnsow.com.au/">Sewn Sow</a></span></li>
</ul>
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">Now the only thing missing is a name - this is where you come in. Comment with what you think would be a good name for the little Boobook (notice the owl is gender neutral as Jenya has a surprise baby on the way!). </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">The best, most creative name will get their very own Boobook (when I finish one! Eeekkk no pressure!). </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">So Jenya, I hope you love your little Boobook owl and most of all, I hope your new little bubba does too. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">So I know this isn't for clothes (my previous ones for <a href="http://www.lilpipdesigns.com/2015/06/my-pattern-recommendations-for-boys.html">boys</a>, <a href="http://www.lilpipdesigns.com/2015/06/my-pattern-recommendations-for-girls.html">girls </a>and dresses was inspired by Kids Clothing Week) but I had a few other reviews lying around and thought I would do a round up of those. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">The <a href="http://www.lilpipdesigns.com/2015/03/pattern-review-babies-first-toys.html">Babies first toys</a> pattern is awesome with 6 different patterns in the one bundle. Awesome for new baby gifts.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>

<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">This <a href="http://www.lilpipdesigns.com/2015/03/bowling-set-catching-up-finally.html">bowling set</a> is really cute and great for rainy day playing. I need to add some weights to the bottom of my pins as my two kidlets seem to just use the ball as a basketball rather than a bowling ball.</span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I make these <a href="http://www.lilpipdesigns.com/2013/10/pattern-review-little-sew-and-sews-tool.html">Toolset and Saw</a> for my markets and they are a huge hit. Perfect gift for baby and little boys. Although my Master 8 and Miss 6 still play with them when they drag out the blankets and chairs to 'build' cubbies.</span><br />
