Spring has Sprung blog tour Day 1: Lil Pip Designs and Things for Boys

First day of the Spring has Sprung blog tour and I'm excited to be joined by Abby from Things for Boys

I met Abby as the Sew Delicious Winter Sewing Day (really must convince Ros to have another one soon!) and was completely taken with her gorgeous personality and even more gorgeous little boy, Ted. She knits, she sews, she cooks and not everything is about boys. I just love her blog.

Orange Vinegar Cleaner

Head over to see what she had made for Spring - Orange Vinegar Cleaner. Cause we all need a little spring cleaning, right?

Before you go, my contribution to Spring is a little different than what you would usually think of making. Be sure to scroll to the bottom for your chance to win a Peek-a-Boo Pattern Shop prize pack.

Living in Melbourne, you certainly appreciate the concept of seasons. So at the moment in the north of Australia everyone seems to be wearing shorts and tshirts but down here, spring can still have some cool days.

I wanted to make something for Master 6 (almost 7) as most things I make, particularly for the business is for Miss 4 and little girls. Honestly the joy on his face when I made this shirt was enough to make me want to sew for him again and again and again. He promptly put it on, wouldn't take it off and completely directed the photoshoot himself "mummy, I will hold my footy and do kicks". He is growing so fast and I'm sure soon enough, wearing clothes that mummy made will not be cool. I have to take advantage of this while I can. Love this little guy.

Peek-a-Boo Pattern Shop Alex & Anna Winter PJs

Yes you read it right people, I used a pj top to make this shirt - with a few minor adjustments.

I learnt my lesson from making the Varisty Cowl Neck Pullover and this time made a size 6 and it is the perfect fit for him. I love that it has a kinda skinny shirt look about it. Like the pullover, it came together so fast and was ready in just one hour! Rather than the 3 inch cuffs on the sleeves, I just extended the sleeve pattern by three inches and added the little trim to match the neck binding.

I think if I continue to sew with knit fabrics, I'm going to need to get a double needle as it is such a lovely way of finishing the garments.

So next on my list is to make the summer version of these pjs (as pjs this time) for both my owlets and I also have the little nightie I can't wait to try. I have ordered some more boy themed knit fabrics online so watch this space as I sew for both of them!

Will I make this again? - absolutely. It is a great pattern to use for pjs or a shirt!

Will I make this to sell for Lil Pip? – no, this one is just for the owlets.

Pattern: Peek-a-Boo Pattern Shop Alex & Anna Winter PJs - use the code 'dream' at the checkout to save $3 from the winter and summer versions.

Fabric: The fabric and binding are both from Spotlight.

Difficulty (1-10 scale with 1 being easy and 10 hard): 3 perhaps because sewing with knits is getting easier for me now but honestly it is so forgiving!

Time: Less than an hour
